Our version of an assembly line...

We've got a lot more cakes going out today; here is a sampling; we can only share a small percentage of the confections, as time is not always our friend.
.

A big congratulations to Bar Mitzvah boy Henry Hahn...we're very proud of your hard work and dedication!

Sweet Sixteen-smooth with fondant-embellished beveled design...
Mom must love Dr. Pepper...we certainly do!

Hand-poured white chocolate shells made to shimmer enhance this popular design.

Gina is making mini-jack 'o lantern cakes for this holiday season, with all the goodness that a full sized cake would bring.
Boo!
More mini-cakes all ready for the last-minute cake seeker.

...and a simple sweet border.

Barack & a Bulldog...

Somebody is having an Obama-themed birthday. We thought Obama was in the Democratic Party, not the Birthday Party or the Delicious Party. Ah well...
Now here is another excellent example of the kind of things we specialize in: sculpture. In this instance, we got a call for a last-minute Bulldog cake. Some places take a couple of weeks (!) to create a cake such as this, but our team was able to put it together and get it out in a matter of mere hours. Spectacular to watch.
.
We know how much you enjoy seeing the process, so we took some photos along the way.

From stacked Hansen's white cake filled with secure layers of our legendary French Butter Creme filling, Jose built the "skeleton" of the English Bulldog.
We suppose with the French Butter Creme we should have done a French Bulldog, but that can be for another cake...but we don't have an English Butter Creme filling!
Here is the photo array that the client brought in. The cakes always come out best when we have sufficient materials to work from. All angles make for an all-over great result.

Carefully carving the styro-head, Chino piped on the distintively inherent features of the pup, carefully smoothing the icing using our time-tested techniques.

A little airbrushing finishes off the beast (we say that in the most loving way of course!) Any breed, any species...that's Hansen's Cakes enthusiastic challenge to you.
Bring it!

Super-Dee-Dooper!

A process.
Barney, the purple dinosaur, created out of cake! Again, there is no fondant being used here, just our special butter creme smoothed to a glass-like finish.
Jose spent a fair amount of time sculpting and securing the balance of this baby. The entire belly of the beast is cake...talk about some yummy in the tummy.

Cake is what we make...

Yesterday was our favorite event designer Michael Willms' big birthday, so we wanted to gift him with a tasty token of our esteem. Fresh strawberries with our Hansen's whipped filling made for a cake that is as delicious on the inside as it is cool on the out. We added his signature bumble bee to the corner as an added touch, just 'cause we love him even more than his celebrity clientele do!

The development of the elephant; we'll show you how we do it! Completely hand carved and iced in fresh butter creme, this tiny pachyderm gets the cold treatment in our chiller to set up.
Added touches give him some personality...
Then he gets placed atop his new jungle home.

Luscious white frosting on a dreamy tiered number...
And a jack-o-lantern, Hansen's Style.
Wheee!

Our World...

All the world is a cake, and we are only eaters; a truer statement cannot be said here at the bakery.

This globe cake was made especially for the Nielson Company who is celebrating a banner day.

.

Today is a'buzz with the excitement of tonight's big show at Vibiana hosted by So.Cal Brides Magazine. We are the cake sponsor for the night, providing 250 cupcakes and four model cakes.

Three of the four are what you would think of as a wedding cake. Tiered and lovely, they represent the trends of today. The fourth cake is an example of what a groom's cake would be. We chose to create one of our popular suitcase designs, and custom made luggage labels which represent many of the event sponsors.
It just screams chocolate!

Labels include:
Occasions, Wild Flower Linen, Food Art Events, Chameleon Chair, The Fry Girl, Ixora Florist, Pacific Coast Bar, Lounge Appeal, Micaela Bensko Photography, Mirassou Winery, plus Entertainment Design Events, The Bridal Bar, and of course, Hansen's Cakes!

Chocolate swirls cover this rich stacked/beveled creation. The subtle contrasting tones enhance the temptation to nibble on it before the appropriate hour...fortunately, we are just full of self-control!

Last minute cake-searchers can now pop in for a ready to go new wave design, in either chocolate or white!

There's a big event tonight for Measure 8 on the ballot...we're providing a cake in support of the cause. : )

Wait 'til you see what we make of this!
More tomorrow...
